Jack Petchey Award
Jack Petchey
“If you think you can, you can”
All of our students had the opportunity to nominate a peer to win the Jack Petchey award.
This award recognises special young people with the important idea being that the nominees do not have to be the best, but must have tried their very best.
We received many incredible nominations and the Student Government had the very difficult job of deciding who would be the winners.
The winners are as below:
Nicole GDS, 7D - Nicole was nominated for the Jack Petchey award as she was described as an extremely understanding person, someone that you can trust and that is always there to listen to you. She was nominated for her support of her peers, for example she likes to help with homework, because sometimes you ask someone and they just tell you the answers, but really you just want to learn more so you can be more independent on your work so that I won't have to ask anyone else. She also likes writing stories and I've always needed to find someone who also likes writing. She also helps me with spelling, because I have tragic spelling.
Adchyan, 8E - He received the highest number of nominations and the Student Government wanted to recognise the fact that he was a worthy award winner. He has been described as someone who is always kind, showing the LAB values and always smiling! To put it simply, he is described as a wonderful person to be around.
Lynnette, 9C - Another student who has been described as kind and also showing the LAB values, in particular resilience; Lynnette is joyful, hardworking and a great friend to many. A well deserved winner!
Amida, 10C - Someone who demonstrates the LAB values and goes above and beyond to be kind. Amida really represents what it means to be a LAB student. She is always doing the right thing, even when no one is looking and she is very humble.
