I created this Introduction Video as a way for students to get to know me and to establish my presence in the class community.
My Introduction Video video demonstrates a Level 2: Insight mastery of the H1 NSQ standard. My project shows that I was able to use technology to design a video that will (hopefully) engage learners. I was able to create the video independently using Zoom to record myself. I created the animations using Canva, and imported my Zoom recordings. I then added captions in YouTube for accessibility.
I understand how to use all of these tools, but it's not something I can do without help. I relied on a lot of tutorials to complete the project. Also, while I understand the value of an introduction video, I don't mine is very successful. The graphics part came easy to me. But recording myself felt self-conscious and awkward. Producing a clear and engaging video is something that I need more practice with. I'm taking a video production class to improve my skills.
My project also demonstrates the C3 NSQ standard: The online teacher develops a community among culturally diverse learners by providing opportunities for interaction that are conducive to active learning. I think a video can foster community amongst learners by showing that the teacher is a human being, and sharing personal information. I also provided an opportunity for interaction by ending with a question that the students can respond to in the comments.
