For my document retrofit, I chose the notes I had taken from an Instructional Design class I took on LinkedIn.
My document retrofit demonstrates a Level 3: Implementation mastery of the F4 NSQ standard. I created an alternative format of my notes from an online Instructional Design course. The original document was a handful of scribbled notebook pages and some URLs pasted into a Google Doc. My retrofitted document was designed to be digital, accessible, legible, and scannable. I made sure to use the stylesheet tool in Google Docs to create headers and sub headers, which automatically creates a table of contents.
For the visuals, I found diagrams of the ID models I learned about, and recreated most of them in Google Slides. Creating my own versions allowed me to maintain a consistent look in my document, and also reinforce what I'd learned.
The tools I used in my retrofit were Google Slides and Google Docs. I have a lot of experience using these tools, and am able to use them independently to create materials. I’m able to adapt and design different formats based on learner needs, whether online or print. The document could easily be converted to other formats, such as a Google Slides presentation, or an interactive web site.
