Migration

We recommend that ASEAN member states:

1. Operationalise recommendations in the ASEAN Forum on Migrant Workers (AFML) transparently with migrant workers and CSOs meaningfully involved.

2. Evaluate and audit the ASEAN Committee on the Implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers’ (ACMW) past working plans.

3. Expand social protection for migrant workers, improve ethical recruitment, provide comprehensive reintegration services, ensuring access to justice, legal aid and labour rights

4. Establish a centralised, permanent case management system for migrant workers' labour disputes, monitored by the ASEAN Secretariat.

5. Ratify key UN Human Rights Conventions for migrant workers and all essential International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions, especially the C189 and C190.
