We recommend that ASEAN member states:
Recognise care services, social protection and safety protection as rights of all workers, including refugees, Orang Asli, stateless individuals and informal labourers without exception and discrimination.
Extend maternity protection to workers in informal employment, particularly the self-employed and ratify the ILO Convention 183 on maternity protection.
Expand the quality of child care, child allowances and family benefits for all workers
Recognise long-term care rights as integral to universal social protection and healthcare
Invest more to ensure accessible, adequate and affordable public health care services to all people, especially mothers and newborns. Recognise and support the roles of cooperatives and social solidarity economy entities in care provision.
