Route characterization: Varied, physically hard route, especially on the part in the woods, along Gauja River. Those who honor calmness, can meet some forest animals.

Route: Valmiera – Jumaras street – Jumaras bridge – Kuli (Kūļi) – Sietiņiezis – Antoni – Vaidava – Rubene – Mujāni – Kocēni – Valmiera

Alternatives: The hardest part of the route - Valmiera, Sietiņiezis - can be done on the local significance road too. The route can be done on the opposite direction and you can start it from any location on the route you want.

Route characterization: Historical cultural and natural values in Kocēni municipality region. Interesting story which is being told by nature, buildings, roads and sightseeing places.

Route: Valmiera – Beites – Kocēni – Mujāni – Rubene – Gulotnes mount – Augstroze – Dikļi – Zilaiskalns – Valmiera

Alternatives: The route can be done on the opposite direction and you can start it from any location on the route you want.

Route characterization: Magic of Zilaiskalns, Dikļi Palace beauty, childhood feelings in Viks fairytale park, Ozolmuiža and many great tree alleys, horseshoe noise, waters of lake Burtnieks - peaceful journey while enjoying cultural and natural values.

Route: Valmiera – Zilaiskalns – Dikļi – Burtnieki – „Valmiermuižas alus” brewery

Alternatives: If you go out on Matīši highway (P16) and ride for 1 km to North, you can see Matīši Evangelical Lutheran Church. The route can be done on the opposite direction and you can start it from any location on the route you want.


Cēsis - Valmiera (~45 km)

Route characterization: The route is located along the Gauja valley and it connects two historical centers - Cēsis and Valmiera. Stage between Rāmnieki and Valmiera mostly leads over remote wood roads and trails, which are great Gauja National Park wildlife watching places, but at the same time cyclist has to be experienced and endurable.

Route: Cēsis: Cēsis railway station – Raunas street – Lenču street – Ērgļu Cliffs (Pieškalni) – Rāmnieki – Sandstone outcrop Sietiņiezis – Valmiera: Jumaras street – Leona Paegles street – Plostnieku street – Cēsu street – Stacijas street.

Level of difficulty: Medium. Separate stages (banks of the valley, its creek ravines) can be too difficult to cross for beginners.


Along Narrow Gauge Railway route (Pa bānīša ceļu): Valmiera - Zilaiskalns (~40 km)

Route characterization: The route is suitable for cyclists who are interested in historical railways, monuments related with them, surrounding landscape and individual natural objects.

Route: Valmiera railway station – Iron bridge – Jāņparks – Beites – bridge over Anuļa river – Kocēni – Tilgaļi – Mujāni – Zilaiskalns station – Zilaiskalns – Valmiermuiža – Valmiera railway station.

Level of difficulty: medium – hard.
