Club members will learn the vocabulary of the courtroom and have opportunities to practice the roles of attorneys and/or witnesses. Skills of investigation, critical thinking, and public speaking will be strengthened. Understanding the nuances of questioning and answering will also be encouraged. Club members will also exercise thinking on their feet. Club members have the chance to participate in national-level mock trial tournaments throughout the year, as well as an intramural competition in the first semester.
1. Club members actively develop different skills, ranging from public speaking to acting, through discussions, attorney/witness exercises, and competitions (ICC, KIMI, and/or KMTA)
2. Club members plan & complete their work (direct/cross-examinations, opening/closing statements) by reasonable due dates set by the officer team.
3. Club members become familiar with objections, responses to objections, and ways to adapt the witness testimony based on the sustained objection.
