Foster an environment of education, discussion and activism amongst the KIS studentry through bringing awareness to societal issues and their effects on the local and global community.
To best achieve our goal as listed in our mission statement, KHRI will focus on working alongside clubs and organizations within the KIS and potentially even the general international school community to formulate initiatives to bring awareness to social issues (e.g., LGBTQ+ Rights, immigration, poverty, racism). These events will also help initiate and moderate discussions of what can be done in our local communities to address said issues. Notably, we have done this through events like Human Rights Week (HRW), where each day a different social topic was addressed in either a guest-speaker or panel discussion format which then evolved into breakout sessions where participants discussed future actions that can be done within KIS and our everyday lives. We have also tried to better maintain discussion through hosting similar events such as the Yale-HRW session back last November outside of the regular HRW time period.
