The club will be divided into two groups:
Physics 1 (introductory)
Physics 2
The first semester will be devoted to learning the materials for AP Physics 1 or 2, depending on what students want to do. Throughout the first semester, students will also be put into groups or will select their own groups and work on KYPT reports. While these will mostly be student-based, club blocks will also be dedicated to debating and talking about certain experimental procedures. This will prepare them for the KYPT tournament.
The second semester will mainly be focused on practicing questions for Physics Bowl as well as the review of previous lessons. If necessary, rudimentary previews of AP Physics C concepts will be given. After physics bowl, the club will be focused mainly on spreading awareness about their activities.
Physics Competition Club will focus on studying and teaching physics. We will then apply and utilize this knowledge to participate in several competitions and exams, such as Korea Young Physicists’ Tournament (KYPT), F=ma, and Physics Bowl. Through this club, members will hopefully perform at an exceptional level in interschool competitions/exams and gain strong interest and skills in physics. Club members will also learn and stay up to date with current physics and engineering research to allow for a more solid application of knowledge to the real world. We also hope to apply our learning in service-related projects.
1. By the end of the first semester, people will have an essential understanding of the subjects covered in AP Physics 1 or 2 depending on what subject they decide to choose.
2. Get at least one team(5 members) to pass the first round of the KYPT report submission process and go to the actual competition. Receive an award at the tournament.
3. Club members need to take the Physics Bowl test and should be able to report an understanding of most of the questions (i.e. 25+ out of 40 questions). More than two members should pass the test.
