November 2021 Update
This past month, the dorms have been very lively. We have had many teachers and counselors working with students, Halloween, Two House Cup events, Specialist Led Workshops, and new clubs. We are excited about what the rest of the semester brings!
지난 달은 기숙사가 매우 활발했습니다! 많은 교사 분들과 카운슬러 선생님이 와주셔서 학생들과 시간을 보냈으며, 헬로윈, 두번의 하우스 컵 대회, 스페셜리스트의 워크샵 그리고 시즌 2 클럽이 시작했었죠! 다음 학기도 기대가 매우 큽니다!
Academic Support
Mr. Zottoli
Mr. Zottoli teaches AP Macroeconomics and AP Psychology. He provided support for students with their upcoming assessments.
Mr. Zottoli 선생님은 학교에서 AP Macroeconomics 와 AP Psychology를 가르치며, 곧 시행될 평가를 대비해 학생들 학업을 지원해주었습니다.
Ms. Cox
Ms. Cox is the G7 Math and Science teacher. She came in twice over the past month and worked with students using a Jeopardy-style review game.
Ms. Cox는 G7 Math와 Science 교사입니다. 지난 달 기숙사에 2회 방문하여 학생들과 Jeopardy 형태의 리뷰 게임을 통해 공부를 했습니다.
Mr. Du Toit
Mr. Du Toit teaches Middle School English. Students were able to receive extra help with their upcoming project.
Mr. Du Toit 교사는 중학교 영어 선생님입니다. 학생들은 앞으로 있을 프로젝트 준비를 위해 추가적인 도움을 받았습니다.

Ms. Du Toit is a high school math teacher. With tests and project deadlines approaching, she was able to support students with an extra tutoring session.

Mr. Abbas
Mr. Abbas is one of the Middle School science teachers. He was welcomed back into the dorms after working with the students several times before. The students always enjoy working with him and asking science-related questions!
Mr. Abbas 는 중학교 Science 교사입니다. 이전에도 기숙사 학생들과 공부했었는데, 이번에도 크게 환영해줬습니다. 학생들을 Mr. Abbas와 과학 관련 질문 뿐만 아니라 함께 공부하는 것을 매우 즐깁니다!
College Counseling
Mr. Watter, Mr. Echolls, and Ms. Weldon are our KISJ College Counselors. They have all been coming into the dorms to work closely with students to find the "best-fit" university for them to succeed in school and life!

On Campus Events!
Mr. Luu - Rock Climbing
Mr. Luu works in our elementary school and is an avid lover of the outdoors. He is Rock Wall Certified at KISJ and enjoys sharing his love of rock climbing with students. Students from both high school and middle school enjoyed climbing! Some of them for their first time!
Mr. Luu 는 초등학교 교사이며, 외부 활동을 매우 좋아합니다. KISJ에서 암벽 등반 자격이 있으며, 학생들과 시간 보내는 것을 즐깁니다. 고등학생 및 중학생들 암벽등반을 참여했으며, 몇몇 학생은 평생 처음으로 경험해봤습니다!
Halloween
Dorm Leadership Council members organized our dorm Halloween Event! They designed a haunted hallway, photo walls, a scavenger hunt, and helped with Trick-or-Treating for the Middle School students. Everyone dressed up in costumes for this event that was a SPOOKTACULAR success!
Dorm Leadership Council은 기숙사 헬로윈 이벤트를 준비했습니다! 유령의 복도를 직접 디자인했고, 포토월, 보물찾기 그리고 중학생들을 위한 Trick or Treat을 마련했습니다. 모두 코스튬을 차려입고 무섭고도 성공적인 밤을 보냈습니다!
Student Lounges
Students have been enjoying their lounge time. They have been able to eat (with protective barriers up), study, hang out with friends, cook, and even have dance parties! Students enjoy bonding with each other and creating a positive sense of dorm community.
학생들은 라운지 시간을 즐기고 있습니다. 학생들은 보호 칸막이가 설치된 곳에서 음식을 먹을 수 있고, 공부를 하거나 친구들과 어울리고, 요리를 하며 심지어 댄스 파티도 엽니다. 우리 학생들이 함께 유대감을 쌓고, 긍정적인 기숙사 공동체의식을 형성하여 매우 기쁩니다.

This year we have a selection of dorm-wide clubs that students are able to participate in. Students are able to be involved in PADI Club, Wellness Club, or Outdoor Club. All clubs are supervised and directed by wonderful and adventurous dorm staff!

Workshops
One of the best advantages of living in the dorms is the educational resources available to dorm students. This year, the Boarding Specialists have developed the 'Dorm Advantage Workshop Series' to further enhance your child’s academic and personal development.
기숙사 생활에서의 최대 장점은 기숙사 학생들에게만 제공되는 교육 리소스입니다. 올해는, 기숙사 스페셜리스트들이 'Dorm Advantage Workshop Series'를 개발하여 자녀분들의 학업 및 개인 개발을 향상시키는 것에 집중합니다.
Virtue of the Week!
Each week, six students (one male, one female, from Middle School, G9/10, and G11/12) are chosen because they best embody and represent the week's Dorm Virtue. Each student is recognized with a certificate and is highlighted on the Virtue of the Week Wall.
매주, 해당 주의 기숙사의 미덕을 가장 잘 구현하는 6명의 학생들(중학생,9/10학년,11/12학년에서 각각 남학생 1명과 여학생 1명)이 선발됩니다. 해당 학생에게 증명서가 부여되고 Virtue of the Week 게시판에 사진이 부착됩니다.

House Cup
This past month we had two different house cup events! The first one was Speed Stacking which was won by Maple House. We also had Turkey Waddle, which was won by Spruce House! It was great to see all the teamwork and comradery. Congratulations to all the students who competed!
지난 달에는 두 가지의 하우스 컵 대회를 했습니다! 첫 번째는, Speed Stacking 이었고, Maple House가 우승했습니다. 그 다음은 Turkey Waddle 이었는데, Spruce House가 이겼습니다! 학생들의 팀원과 동지애를 보는 것이 즐거웠고, 함께 경쟁했던 모든 학생들을 축하합니다!

After four house cup events, Birch House has the lead with 32.5 points. Followed closely by Pine House with 31.5 points, and Maple House with 25.5 points.
현재 4번의 하우스 컵 대회 결과, 중학교 Birch House가 32.5점으로 리드하고 있으며, 바로 뒤에 고등 Pine House가 31.5점으로 따라가고, 그 다음은 고등 Maple 하우스가 25.5점으로 쫒고 있습니다.
