Winter 2022-23

The Dorms were buzzing with activity this winter season all the way through Lunar New Year break! In addition to our regular enrichment clubs, Sunday field trips, open facilities, and academic study hall, we celebrated the holiday season with house dinners, sweet treats, House cup, and lots of fun. Special events included a late night viewing of the World Cup soccer tournament and a special visit from Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) students.

기숙사는 설 방학까지 이번 겨울 시즌 내내 활기가 넘쳤습니다! 정규 활성화 클럽, 일요 외부 트립, 오픈 팩실리티, 스터디홀 자습과 더불어, 우리는 하우스 디너, 달콤한 간식, 하우스 컵 등 여러 가지 재미있는 활동으로 홀리데이 시즌을 기념하였습니다. 특별 이벤트로는 심야 월드컵 축구 경기 시청 및 메사추세츠 공과대학교(MIT) 학생들의 방문 등이 있었습니다.

MIT students visit KISJ Dorms

MIT students, Angela and Kerlina, visited the dorms and offered drop-in information sessions with both MS and HS students. Dorm students learned about the college admission process, writing effective college essays, and general university life. Students enjoyed eating together, asking questions and receiving academic advice from high achieving university students.

MIT 학생인 Angela와 Kerlina가 기숙사를 방문하여 중등 및 고등학생들에게 직접 인포 세션을 열었습니다. 기숙사 학생들은 대입 절차, 효과적인 대학교 에세이 작성 및 전반적인 대학 생활에 대해 배웠습니다. 학생들은 함께 식사하고, 질의를 주고 받고, 성취가 높은 대학생들로부터 학업적 조언을 받으며 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다.

Teacher Study Sessions

There were many teachers in the dorms providing academic support and extra study sessions to help students prepare for their assessments and exams. A very special "thank you" goes to the following teachers for their support of dorm students: Ms. Du Toit- HS Algebra sessions, Ms. Bethany Bates and Ms. Adrienne Anderson -MS English/SS project, Ms. Eva Biggart- MS History/English Homework, Mr. Omar Maklad-MS Math and Science academic support, Ms. Savannah Bamburg-HS general academic support, Ms. Louise Redmon and Mu Alpha Theta- HS Math support, Mr. Pleckaitis- G9 English, and Mr. Baker-Calculus and Physics.

Dorm Leadership Council (DLC)

Dorm Leadership Council members are student leaders who are dedicated to representing dorm residents, enhancing the dorm atmosphere on behalf of the dorm program, and successful event planning. The Head of School, Boarding Deans, and MS/HS Principals officially welcomed DLC members to the council with a pin ceremony and dinner to honor their achievement.

기숙사 학생회(DLC)의 맴버는 기숙사 거주 학생들을 대표하고 기숙사 프로그램의 일환으로 기숙사의 분위기를 고양하며 성공적인 이벤트 기획을 위해 헌신하는 학생 리더들입니다. 총교장, 총사감단 및 중등/고등 교장단이 공식적으로 DLC 맴버들의 입회를 환영하였으며 핀 수여식과 저녁 식사를 함께하며그들의 성과를 기념하였습니다.

SCUBA/Snorkel Club

SCUBA/Snorkel Club is a club where students can learn the basics of scuba diving such as swimming skills, how to use their snorkel and mask properly, how to use a BCD, regulator, air tank, and how to communicate under water. Once a month, students can sign up to visit a pool off campus to learn how to scuba dive with teacher and experienced diver, George Vest. We hope that this fun club can make students more confident in the water and teach them a new skill that they can have throughout their lives.

SCUBA/스노클링 클럽은 학생들이 수영 기술, 올바른 스노클 및 마스크 착용법, BCD, 레귤레이터 및 산소통 사용법, 수중 의사소통 방법 등 스쿠버 다이빙의 기초를 배우는 클럽 활동입니다. 한 달에 한 번, 클럽의 학생들은 신청을 통해 외부 수영장에 방문하여 교사이자 경험 많은 다이버인 George Vest선생님께 스쿠버 다이빙을 배울 수 있습니다. 우리는 이 재미있는 클럽을 통해 학생들이 물에 대해 더 자신감을 갖고 일생 동안 사용할 수 있는 새로운 기술을 익힐 수 있기를 바랍니다.

Weekend Programming

Every weekend students attend enrichment clubs and field trips that give them an opportunity to explore a variety of interests related to their personal development. The Biking Club, Board Game Club, Bowling at Shinhwa World, Ice skating and Go Karts at the Alive Museum were just a few of the popular trips and activities.

매 주말마다 학생들은 주말 활성화 클럽 및 외부 트립에 참여하여 자기 개발과 관련된 다양한 관심사를 탐구해 볼 수 있는 기회를 갖습니다. 자전거 클럽, 보드게임 클럽, 신화월드 볼링장, 아이스 스케이팅, 박물관이 살아있다 내에 위치한 고-카트장 같은 인기 트립 및 액티비티 외에도 다양한 활동이 있습니다.

Wellness Club

The Wellness Club encourages students to live healthier and happier lifestyles through activities such as yoga, vegan cooking, fermentation, juicing, positive thinking techniques, stress release techniques, and volunteering. The club seeks to cultivate a love of “wellness,” so students start thinking about how their mental health and diet are important to their wellbeing. Students may also receive DRAGON Hours and DRAGON Active Points for select activities.

웰니스 클럽은 요가, 비건 요리, 발효, 주스, 긍정적인 사고 기술, 스트레스 해소 기술, 자원봉사와 같은 활동들을 통해 학생들이 더 건강하고 행복한 생활 방식을 누릴 수 있도록 장려합니다. 이 클럽은 "웰니스"에 대한 애정을 키우기를 추구하며, 여기서 학생들은 자신의 웰빙에 있어서 정신 건강과 식이가 얼마나 중요한지에 대해 생각하기 시작합니다. 학생들은 또한 특정 활동에 대해 DRAGON Hours와 DRAGON 활동 점수를 받을 수 있습니다.

House Dinners

One thing is certain, students love house dinners! Whether students and staff go out to a local restaurant or they order in, eating together creates a family-like atmosphere. In addition to eating great food, dorm students also enjoy the chance to bond with their housemates and create great memories together.

확실하게, 학생들은 하우스 디너를 좋아합니다! 학생들과 사감선생님이 함께 로컬 식당으로 나가든, 하우스로 배달을 시키든, 함께 식사를 하는 일은 가족과도 같은 분위기를 만들어 줍니다. 맛있는 음식을 먹는 것과 더불어, 기숙사 학생들은 하우스 친구들과 유대감을 형성하고 함께 좋은 추억을 만들 수 있는 기회를 즐깁니다.

House Cup

House Cup events foster friendly competition between dorm houses and encourage dorm pride. About every three weeks, a dorm house will host a short event that students may take part in to earn points for their dorm house. At the end of the year, the points are tallied and a winner is crowned! House cup events are a great way to bring the dorm community together to have some fun.

하우스 컵 이벤트는 각 하우스 간의 우호적인 경쟁을 촉진하고 기숙사의 프라이드를 북돋웁니다. 대략 3주에 한 번씩, 기숙사는 학생들이 참여하여 자신의 하우스를 위해 점수를 획득할 수 있는 간단한 이벤트를 주최하고 있습니다. 학사년도 말에, 이 포인트를 집계하여 우승한 하우스가 왕관을 차지합니다! 하우스 컵은 기숙사 공동체가 하나로 연대하여 즐거운 시간을 보낼 수 있는 좋은 방법입니다.

House Snacks

Dorm students love to eat so dorm staff put in a lot of effort to make sure students always have delicious snacks in the house. These are some of the house snacks students have enjoyed during the winter season.

기숙사 학생들이 먹는 것을 좋아하여 사감선생님들은 학생들이 하우스에서 항상 맛있는 간식을 먹을 수 있도록 많은 노력을 기울입니다. 아래 사진들은 겨울철에 학생들이 즐겨 먹었던 하우스 간식들 중 일부입니다.
