KCCAQ - Online Training

Professional development is a continuum of learning and support activities designed to prepare individuals for work with and on behalf of young children and their families, as well as ongoing experiences to enhance this work. These opportunities lead to improvements in the knowledge, skills, practices, and dispositions of early childhood professionals. NAEYC's professional development is aligned and grounded in NAEYC's standards and delivered in innovative ways.

The following sites offer engaging, interactive and practical online modules that are self-paced and designed to fit your needs and schedules as early childhood educators.

California Department of Education

Professional Development Training. Resources provided by the Early Education and Support Division (EESD) to train professionals in the child care field.

California Early Childhood Online CECO

Early childhood educators may receive professional development (PD) hours for completing modules within various components provided on the learning portal, California Early Childhood Online (CECO).

California Preschool Instructional Network

The California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN) is brought to you by the California Department of Education, Early Education and Support Division in collaboration with the Center for Child and Family Studies at WestEd and the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCSESA). CPIN provides high quality professional development for preschool administrators and teachers highlighting current research-based information, resources, and effective instructional practices which are focused on preparing children to flourish in early childhood and succeed in elementary school and beyond.

Child Development Training Consortium

Child Development Training Consortium (CDTC) provides services, training, technical assistance, and resources to students and professionals working with and for children. In doing so, we help promote professionalism and high quality early care and education programs that benefit California’s children and families.

CompSAT

CompSAt is a competencies-based, self assessment toolkit. One of the hallmarks of a profession is standards for best practice. In California, early childhood educators have established a comprehensive set of expectations for our profession, set forth in the California Department of Education Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Competencies. CompSAT is the companion to the CA ECE Competencies. CompSAT guides early educators through a process of self-reflection and authentic assessment in the 12 competency areas detailed in the ECE Competencies.

Healthy and Active Preschoolers

The Healthy and Active Preschoolers Web site is a nutrition learning center for child care professionals. The site contains four online courses and a variety of resources to improve the nutrition and physical activity environment in child care programs. The Web site was created by the California Department of Education, Nutrition Services Division in collaboration with the Fresno City College Cal-Pro-NET Center.

The Program for Infant/Toddler

The goal of PITC is to help infant/toddler care teachers recognize the crucial importance of giving tender, loving care and assisting in the infants' intellectual development through an attentive reading of each child's cues. The PITC's videos, guides, and manuals are designed to help child care managers and infant/toddler care teachers become sensitive to infants' cues, connect with their family and culture, and develop responsive, relationship-based care. The training materials provide the foundation for a style of care in which infant/toddler care teachers study the infants in their care, reflect on and record information about the children's interests and skills, and search for ways to set the stage for the child's next learning encounters.

Child Care Courses (childcare.tamu.edu)

Online courses for child care professionals seeking to fulfill state-mandated training requirements or obtain hours toward the Child Development Associate (CDA) National Credential.
To receive official credit for the courses, participants must pass a course exam and pay a processing fee to obtain a printable certificate.
