The goal of QRIS is to ensure that children in California have access to high quality programs so that they thrive in their early learning settings and succeed in kindergarten and beyond. The California QRIS (CA-QRIS) Consortium strives to improve the quality of early learning with a focus in three areas of program quality: child development and readiness for school; teachers and teaching; and program and environment quality.
California has a collective of county and regional QRISs. Each QRIS in California:
The Kings County Consortium was established on February 12, 2015, by the Kings County Office of Education.
The purpose of the Consortium shall be to maintain and sustain the implementation of the local rating matrix process and promote system alignment, participate in the decision making processes regarding programs and activities which improve the quality in
childcare programs and educate parents choosing quality childcare with Kings County.
Composition The Consortium shall be composed of 7 members who shall be recommend by a selection committee and appointed by the Kings County Superintendent of Schools. The objective is to achieve membership that is a reflection of the ethnic, racial and geographic distribution makeup of Kings County, with representation as follows:
