Rate early childhood programs: Programs are rated on a scale, usually with three or five steps, stars, or levels. Kings County uses Tier Rating. There are seven elements assessed in the following areas:
Offers training and professional development to improve the capacity of teachers to use data in the classroom, to plan for developmentally, culturally and linguistically appropriate teaching strategies, and to use promising practices that foster appropriate interactions and environment.
Helps staff assess needs, provide resources, encourage parents participation in their child's learning, and conduct parent meetings that include information on quality early learning environment and school readiness.
All sites are required to assess and observe children using DRDP 2015 and to conduct social-emotional development screening using the ASQ. Sites are also expected to use ERS and comply with Title 22 health and safety standards.
All sites, FCC or center based, will have access to training with follow-up coaching/TA to systematically improve the quality of their environment.
Below is a list of the early care centers and family child care homes participating in the Kings County Cares About Quality QRIS Program.
Each early care center and family care home will have a site quality rating.
The rating scale range is 0 - 5.

The Kings County Office of Education, Kings County Cares About Quality (KCCAQ) Program conducted a QRIS rating visit with each of the sites listed in the attached document on each of their corresponding “Date of Rating”. A rating is issued when the site has obtained a review from the KCCAQ Program and the program has met certain criteria according to the Quality Improvement and Rating System. Sites may or may not continue to implement systems used to obtain their rating. Although the KCCAQ Program will do everything in its power to obtain updated information for each site, it is the consumer's responsibility to verify with the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Department (CDSS-CCLD) as to whether a site is currently in good standing, in compliance, or in possessions of any outstanding violations: https://secure.dss.ca.gov/CareFacilitySearch/
