Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fantastic and busy final week we've had in Year 3!
Maths
This week, we’ve been focusing on adding and subtracting money. Why not keep the learning going at home by using real coins on a trip to the shops? Let your child help work out totals and change—it’s a great way to practise their skills in a real-life context!
Writing
We’ve proudly finished writing our own stories inspired by The Iron Man. The children have shown such creativity and imagination—well done! We certainly have some authors in the making!
Shared Reading
In reading, we’ve been exploring poetry, discussing rhythm, rhyme, and meaning. We have looked at onomatopoeia and thinking about why writers use it within their poems to engage readers. All library books should have been returned to the library, if you have any banded books, phonics books or library books at home please can your child bring these in so that we can return and redistribute for the next academic year.
Spelling/ Phonics
We had great fun with an outdoor spelling hunt, searching for Year 3/4 spelling words and cracking the code to find the missing ones. The children loved this active challenge!
Transition
We are incredibly proud of the Year 3 children for being fantastic role models during the Year 2 transition events. They supported the younger children during lunchtime in the junior school this week and helped during sessions with the Year 2 children by having a buddy and helping them to know where things are in the junior school. It was wonderful to see their caring and responsible sides shine through.
As we come to the end of the academic year, we want to say what an absolute pleasure it has been to teach this brilliant group of children. Watching them grow into such kind, capable, and confident individuals has been a joy. We will miss them all—but we’re also so excited to see what lies ahead for them at King's Academy Northern Parade.
Good luck and a huge well done to all of the children—and an equally big thank you to all the grown-ups for your continued support throughout the year.
