Welcome to Our Community Page
As the colder months arrive, we know that winter can bring extra challenges, especially with rising energy costs and everyday expenses putting pressure on many households. We want every family in our community to know that help is available, and that no one has to face these difficulties alone.
There are several local schemes designed to support households with heating, electricity, and essential costs this winter:
Household Support Fund – available through Portsmouth City Council to help with food, energy and essential living costs.
Utilities Payment Scheme – one-off payments to help with energy and water bills for low-income households.
Switched On Portsmouth – offering free home energy advice, help with switching tariffs, and guidance on saving money on bills.
Hive Portsmouth – connecting residents to local charities and grant support for everyday essentials.
Full details and application forms can be found at portsmouth.gov.uk or switchedonportsmouth.co.uk, or by calling 0800 260 5907 for free advice.
If you know someone who might benefit from this support, a neighbour, a relative, or a friend, please share this information. Sometimes a friendly conversation or a bit of encouragement can make all the difference in helping someone access the help they need.
This is also a time to look out for one another. A quick check-in with a neighbour, a kind word in the playground, or offering help to someone struggling with online forms can make our community stronger and more connected.
We recognise that the autumn and winter terms can feel long and demanding for everyone. Please remember to take care of yourself and those around you, we’re all part of the same Portsmouth community, and we’re at our best when we support each other.
Thank you for working together, being a team and making our school and our city a more caring, compassionate place to live.
Always,
Miss K 🌻
Support in the community Information
Hello,
Unity in Community are a charity based in Hull who aim to support the most vulnerable people in society. We were successful in a funding application for supporting people struggling to top up their pre-payment meters across the country. As the cost of living continues to rise, we are aware that many people will be struggling to make ends meet. Unity in Community are able to support households with fuel vouchers; these vouchers are sent via text message. We would like to offer this support to the parents, carers and guardians of students who attend your school.
If you would like further information, please reply to this email, alternatively you can use the information below to pass directly on to the parents, carers and guardians –
Help Available - Gas & Electric: Unity in Community will be providing vouchers to help towards paying for gas and electricity. To qualify you must pay for your energy through a prepayment meter and have not received energy vouchers from Unity in Community within the past 12 months. This is in response to the ongoing cost of living crisis and beneficiaries can be working, unemployed, self-employed or retired. For more information and to register, call 01482 420836, Monday to Friday, 9am – 3pm – if busy, please keep trying.
We look forward to working with you to support families through a challenging time.
Kind Regards,
Rhea McGowan
