At King’s Academy Northern Parade, we are incredibly proud to offer a wide range of leadership opportunities for our Year 6 pupils. These important roles allow our oldest children to take on extra responsibility, act as excellent role models for younger pupils, and make a real difference to our school community. By taking on leadership roles, children develop valuable life skills such as communication, teamwork and organisation, while also building confidence and pride in their school.
Each position is designed to reflect the trust we place in our Year 6 pupils as they prepare for secondary school and beyond. Our leaders help to ensure that our school remains a safe, caring and inspiring place for everyone to learn and grow.
Our Head Students are ambassadors for the school and play a key role in representing the pupil voice. They are confident, responsible and reliable individuals who set an example for others through their attitude, conduct and commitment. Head Students support whole-school events, lead by example, and help to strengthen the partnership between pupils and staff.
Responsibilities include:
Representing the school during assemblies, tours and special events.
Meeting regularly with senior leaders to share ideas and feedback from pupils.
Supporting and motivating the prefect team.
Modelling excellent behaviour, effort and attitude at all times.
Our Prefects are trusted members of the school who take pride in helping to make the school run smoothly. They assist staff, support younger children, and ensure that our school remains a calm, respectful and welcoming place. Prefects are chosen for their maturity, reliability and positive attitude, and they serve as daily examples of our school values in action.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting staff with transitions around the school.
Welcoming visitors and helping during assemblies and school events.
Promoting our school values through their daily actions.
Setting an example in behaviour, uniform and learning.
Our Reading Ambassadors help to spread a love of books and reading throughout the school. They understand that reading opens doors to imagination and learning, and they take great pride in supporting younger pupils to grow in confidence. By celebrating books and helping others to enjoy them, they play a key role in building our reading culture.
Responsibilities include:
Listening to younger children read and offering encouragement.
Helping to organise and promote reading events such as book fairs or World Book Day.
Sharing book recommendations and reading tips in assemblies or class visits.
Supporting the upkeep of class and library reading areas.
Our Digital Leaders are passionate about technology and how it can enhance learning. They help teachers and pupils use digital tools effectively and ensure that everyone understands the importance of online safety. As positive digital role models, they encourage responsible use of technology and share new ideas to make learning exciting and accessible for all.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting teachers and pupils with ICT equipment and resources.
Helping to promote online safety through assemblies or displays.
Testing new educational apps or tools and sharing feedback.
Encouraging others to use technology creatively and responsibly.
Our Sports Leaders promote teamwork, healthy lifestyles and active play. They help to make playtimes enjoyable and inclusive for everyone, organising games and encouraging others to join in. With enthusiasm and fairness, they inspire younger pupils to take part in physical activity and to show good sportsmanship in all they do.
Responsibilities include:
Leading games and activities during playtimes and lunchtimes.
Supporting PE lessons, sports days and tournaments.
Promoting healthy lifestyles and positive attitudes towards physical activity.
Encouraging good sportsmanship and inclusion.
Our House Captains are proud representatives of their school houses and play a vital role in promoting team spirit and participation. They lead by example, motivating their peers and encouraging everyone to take pride in their achievements. Through house competitions and events, they help to create a strong sense of community across the school.

Collecting and celebrating house points.
Leading and motivating their house during competitions and events.
