Dear Year 2 Families,
It was so lovely to see everyone back after the half term break, full of eagerness and a desire to learn, whilst hearing about all the interesting activities they'd been up to.
We have launched our new text in Writing and Shared Reading. We are very excited to learn about the renowned pirate family, The Jolley-Rogers, and all of their habits and pirate practices. We are also working closely with Pirate Patrol to try to find them after we received a wanted poster from them.
In Maths, we have been learning about equal and unequal groups which is the foundation for multiplication. The children have been exploring using a variety of concrete resources to represent their understanding. They are making links between repeated addition and multiplication.
In Geography, we have started our journey around the United Kingdom, looking at capital cities, landmarks, and traditions that are specific to each country, sports, food, and clothing.
Our new unit in Science is focused around humans, and specifically this week, we have been learning about the basic needs of animals, including humans. We have investigated the importance of shelter, food, drink, and air, and what is needed to survive.
