Dear Year 2 Families,
What another fantastic week in Year 2, full of learning and discovery which was met with enthusiasm and energy. We were extremely privileged to be the first to watch the Early Years Christmas performance (which was amazing!), and truly put us all in the Christmas spirit.
To further promote our inclusive curriculum, we have introduced weekly No Outsiders assemblies. Our topics have included disabilities and kindness and the language we use towards each other. This has also been embedded in our PDL lesson where we discussed our emotions about being left out and what we can do if this does happen / we witness this in our school community.
In Writing, we have continued to enjoy and explore our text, Lila and the Secret of Rain. by understanding the morality and importance of belief and working as a community. We have also deconstructed sentences to grasp what every sentence needs, a subject and verb. We are now experts!
Maths has given the children the opportunity to explore 2D and 3D shape through naming and identifying specific properties. They have had fantastic fun playing "Which Shape Am I?" and building them with different resources.
This week in Science, we have introduced some new scientific vocabulary, producers, consumers and decomposers. They can now identify that producers are organisms that make their own food; consumers are living things that get energy by eating producers and other consumers like owls and giraffes; decomposers are living things that break down dead plants and animals like bacteria and worms. They had a lot of fun showing off their knowledge by sorting animals and plants into their correct groups.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you all again on Monday.
