Dear Families,
What a spooktacular start to the week we had! On Monday, we kicked things off with our Spooky Disco after school. The children were so excited and many of them created colourful posters and invitations to advertise the event. WOW! Everyone looked fantastic in their costumes and showed off some electrifying dance moves. It was frightfully fun from start to finish!
Our Great Fire of London learning journey has now come to an end, and we are so proud of our budding historians. The children have developed a brilliant understanding of the key events and impact of this significant historical event. Well done, Year 2! Ask your child to share something they have learned about the fire.
In Science, we wrapped up our investigations into materials by testing which were the most waterproof. The children made great predictions, carried out careful observations, and drew thoughtful conclusions. Super scientists in the making!
This week in RE, we have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali (The Festival of Light). We explored how light represents goodness and how light overcomes darkness, just like how good overcomes evil. The children also made their own beautiful diva lamps, which looked stunning.
In Computing, we explored how barcodes work and discussed the benefits of ICT in shops. We looked at how it helps speeding up checkout queues to helping with stock control.
Finally, in PDL, we practised happy breathing and mindfulness. The children really enjoyed taking time to pause, reflect, and feel calm together.
Can we take a moment to say thank you to all that attended our curriculum classroom event yesterday afternoon. It was a lovely opportunity for your child to share their learning with you and to celebrate everything they have achieved already this half term. Our next open classroom event will take place after Christmas.
Wishing you all a restful and happy half term with your families. Use the time to make special memories and recharge ready for Autumn 2.
We look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 3rd November.
Lots of love,
Miss Dalton and the Year 2 Team xx
