At King's School Rochester, we place immense value on the well-being and personal development of our boarders. Our medium-sized school is known for its friendly, open atmosphere, and we pride ourselves on the exceptional pastoral care we provide. The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) reports have consistently praised our high level of pastoral care, and in 2020, the inspectors rated the boarding facilities “outstanding in all areas”. They highlighted our pupils' mutual respect, sense of fairness, excellent behaviour, and the harmonious mix of different cultures within the school.
Our Boarding Houses are designed with the utmost care to create a secure and nurturing environment where each child can develop and mature educationally, socially, physically, and spiritually. We aim to foster a family atmosphere in which boarders feel comfortable sharing their problems and using their strengths to benefit the community. We cherish mutual trust and reliability, emphasizing the importance of respect and consideration for others.
While we understand that our boarding houses cannot entirely replace a child's home, we strive to make our boarders feel as confident and comfortable at School House and St. Margaret's House as they would with their own families. To achieve this, we encourage open communication with parents/guardians, whether in person, via email, or by phone, and we are always eager to discuss the development and well-being of our boarders.
As a Cathedral School, King's Rochester celebrates faith and spirituality. Boarders attend services and are encouraged to worship in their own faith. While participation is not compulsory for those with differing beliefs, attendance is expected to foster a sense of community.
