At King's, our boarding pupils enjoy a balanced and engaging lifestyle, thanks to our structured daily routines.
During weekdays, from Sunday dinner to Friday after school, the days are well-organised with a mix of educational and recreational activities. The boarding house opens at 7:30 AM, ready for breakfast. By 8:10 AM, we conduct a school-wide registration, followed by daily announcements. School concludes at 4:15 PM, and pupils are free to collect their fresh laundry, have a snack, and unwind. This time is also allocated for involvement in various clubs and activities.
The first prep session commences at 5:15 PM, with L6 & U6 pupils working in their rooms with doors open. Dinner is served at 6:30 PM, and the second prep session starts at 7:15 PM. The end times vary for different year groups: L5 conclude by 8:00 PM, while U5, L6, and U6 continue until 8:30 PM.
Prep School pupils have their showers and start preparing for bed by 8:00 PM. Lights out follow a staggered schedule, beginning with the Prep School at 9:00 PM, followed by Removes at 9:30 PM, L5 & U5 at 10:00 PM, and finally, L6 & U6 at 10:30 PM. Mobile devices are to be handed into the boarding office before lights out. At 10:30 PM, the boarding house is securely locked up.
On weekends, from Friday after school to Sunday dinner, the schedule is more relaxed. The boarding house opens at 9:00 AM for breakfast. Lunch is served at 12:30 PM, and dinner at 6:30 PM. The bedtime routine begins earlier with Prep lights out at 9:30 PM, followed by Removes at 10:00 PM, L5 & U5 at 10:30 PM, and L6 & U6 expected to be in their rooms by 11:00 PM when the boarding house is locked up.
This routine is designed to offer structure and foster an environment conducive to both learning and relaxation. We strive to create a home away from home for our pupils at King's School Rochester.
