Update: Our next induction weekend starts on Saturday, 31 August 2024 (for new boarders) and Sunday, 1 September 2024 (for existing boarders)
Our comprehensive induction process for new boarders at King's Rochester begins with a warm welcome upon arrival, followed by a school tour led by tutors and house prefects. For starters joining in the Michaelmas term (September), parents/guardians are invited to join their children for a delightful English afternoon tea in St. Margaret's garden, after which they will be given a guided tour of the school campus. The day concludes with a BBQ dinner and evening activities, allowing new boarders to bond with their peers and settle into their new environment.
The following day includes a light breakfast, administrative tasks, and, if applicable, EAL interviews. New boarders will also receive a medical assessment and attend a session on British culture, expectations, and manners. Another school tour helps familiarize students with their classrooms, and they will have the chance to meet existing boarders in the afternoon. The day ends with a group dinner at a local restaurant.
On the third day, new boarders follow the regular schedule, enjoying breakfast in their respective houses and attending their first day of classes or a sightseeing trip. Normal boarding routines continue from this point forward, ensuring a smooth transition into life at King's School Rochester.
For boarders joining in the Lent (January) or Midsummer (April) terms, a slightly abbreviated version of the above is offered.
