The School Day

The Monday to Friday schedule at King's is designed to ensure that our boarding pupils engage in a range of activities, in addition to their regular lessons. Each weekday begins with form time at 8:20 AM, which is extended on Mondays. Tuesdays feature the 'Congo', while Wednesdays alternate between assembly and form time, depending on whether it is Week A or Week B. Chapel is observed on Thursdays and Fridays.

Lessons and activities commence at 8:50 AM. On Mondays, pupils attend the Cathedral. On Tuesdays, the Removes and Lower Fifth have their first period, while the Upper Fifth to Upper Sixth enjoy games. Wednesdays vary, with Week A observing the first period and Week B dedicated to Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PHSE). Thursdays see the Removes and Lower Fifth at games, and the Upper Fifth to Upper Sixth at their first period. On Fridays, all year groups have their first period.

The second period begins at 9:50 AM. On Mondays, all pupils attend Period 2. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Removes and Lower Fifth have their second period, while the Upper Fifth to Upper Sixth participates in games. Wednesday is dedicated to the second period for all year groups, and on Fridays, everyone attends the second period.

Break time is at 10:50 AM, and Bob's Snack Shack is open for those who want a bite. After the break, at 11:15 AM, all pupils attend their third period. The fourth period begins at 12:15 PM.

Lunch is served at 1:15 PM in the School House dining hall, after which the fifth period commences at 2:15 PM. On Mondays and Wednesdays, all pupils attend their fifth period. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Removes and Lower Fifth have games, while the Upper Fifth to Upper Sixth attends their fifth period. Fridays are unique with the Removes and Lower Fifth joining the Combined Cadet Force (Army/RAF/Navy), the Upper Fifth engaging in Enrichment, Lower Sixth partaking in 'Hands' (volunteering), and the Upper Sixth attending their fifth period.

The final period of the day, the sixth period, starts at 3:15 PM. On Mondays and Wednesdays, all pupils attend their sixth period. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Removes and Lower Fifth have games, while the Upper Fifth to Upper Sixth attends their sixth period. Fridays follow a similar schedule to the fifth period, with the Removes and Lower Fifth joining the Combined Cadet Force, the Upper Fifth engaging in Enrichment, Lower Sixth volunteering, and the Upper Sixth attending their sixth period.

This schedule ensures a healthy balance of academic lessons, spiritual activities, and recreational games, encouraging our pupils to develop holistically at King's.
