At King's, it is strongly believed that a well-rounded pupil is better equipped for success. To foster this development, weekends in boarding are dedicated to enriching trips and engaging events, offering opportunities for personal growth and exploration beyond the school environment. Each weekend, boarders participate in carefully planned activities that expand their horizons, allowing them to build cultural capital and develop into more well-rounded individuals. These experiences are designed to cultivate curiosity, broaden perspectives, and contribute to their journey toward becoming more interesting and informed individuals.
We try to fit in as best we can with sports fixtures, CCF and cultural activities.
The Michaelmas term at King's offers boarders an exciting array of trips and events that make every weekend an adventure. From the vibrant energy of London to the serene beauty of the seaside, there is something for everyone. Highlights include a scenic boat trip to Greenwich, a lively visit to Broadstairs Beach, and a cultural exploration of London's Chinatown. Thrill-seekers can enjoy exhilarating paintball sessions, while those preferring a more relaxed experience can take in the magic of theatre on our evening trips or enjoy a fun bowling and dinner outing. Seasonal activities such as ice skating and a visit to Christmas markets provide festive cheer, while shopping trips to Bluewater and Ashford Outlet give boarders the chance to indulge.
After the mock exams in January, when no trips are run to allow our boarders the maximum possible study and revision time, we enjoy the many fun activities the winter and early spring have to offer.
Pupils will explore Greenwich Market, experiencing the unique charm of London by train, and immerse themselves in history at Dover Castle. For those with a creative flair, a pizza-making and board games evening promises delicious fun without needing to leave campus. Adrenaline enthusiasts can enjoy Laser Quest, as well as an exhilarating Go-Karting experience, followed by a tasty meal out at local restaurants. The term also features the school production and boarders usually get stuck in and have a tremendous time bringing a show to life.
The Midsummer term at King's brings an exciting range of activities for boarders to enjoy, blending relaxation, adventure, and cultural experiences. From enjoying a film in the Bluewater Shopping Centre to the energy of a live Harlequins Rugby Match at Twickenham, there is always something engaging to look forward to. Pottery painting offers a creative outlet, while the climbing wall trip and the exhilarating Thorpe Park adventure cater to thrill-seekers. A cultural journey to London's Twist Museum and a planned visit to the O2 ensure that pupils are exposed to a variety of enriching experiences.
Please note that during the Midsummer term, U5 and U6 boarders do not go on trips as they are busy with public exams.
