Bank Statement Submissions (Guardian Visa Renewal)

To ensure a smooth renewal process, bank statements must be submitted in strict compliance with the following rules:
Bank statements must clearly show funds transferred by the sponsor, employer, or other declared source, ensuring full traceability. The details of these transactions must precisely match those in the Statutory Declaration or Sponsorship Declaration.
With immediate effect, Immigration will strictly enforce anti‑money laundering rules and no longer accept any of the following as valid evidence:
Cash deposit machine (CDM) transactions
Cross‑border physical cash deposits
Cash exchanges between private individuals
Transfers from third parties not named in the Sponsorship Declaration
Q1: Are traveler’s cheques accepted as proof of funds?
Yes, only if all of the following conditions are met:
Traveler’s cheques are cashed into your own account or your spouse’s account. If using your own account, you must provide the corresponding bank statements.
The transaction must be clearly shown in the submitted bank statements.
Monthly balances must continuously meet Immigration’s minimum requirement.
Q2: If the sponsor transfers funds to my home-country account, and I transfer the same funds into my Malaysian account, is that acceptable?
Yes, provided that:
The bank statements from your home-country account is also required as an additional document, showing the inbound transfer, matching the declared source.
The transaction details are fully visible in the statements submitted.
Monthly balances remain at or above the immigration minimum.
Q3: Must funds be transferred in monthly installments?
No, lump-sum transfers are permitted, but you must:
Ensure the transfer is fully reflected in the submitted bank statements.
Make sure monthly balances consistently meet the required minimum.
📢 Special Reminders:
All financial transactions must be carried out through legitimate banking channels.
It is strongly recommended that you prepare proof-of-funds materials at least two months before the visa expiry date.
Incomplete financial documentation will directly result in delays in your Guardian Visa renewal.

Early Arrival: New International Students for Term 1 of the 2025/2026 Academic Year

We are excited to welcome you to our academic community. To ensure a smooth transition, we encourage you and your family to arrive early only from 3rd June 2025 onward after obtaining the Ministry of Education (MOE) Supporting Letter. This will allow ample time for student visa processing and settling in before classes commence.
Important:
Obtain the Ministry of Education (MOE) Supporting Letter: Before entering Malaysia, ensure that the MOE Supporting Letter, which is essential for the visa application has been granted. The process may take up to four to six weeks, your may check the status here.
Prepare Required Documents (Partial) in Your Home Country: Before departing, ensure you have all necessary documents, including your passport, birth certificate, parents' marriage certificate etc...
Submit Visa Documents Within the First Week: Upon arrival in Malaysia, please submit all required visa documents to our International Office within the first week to facilitate the processing of your Student Pass. Please schedule an appointment here with the respective PIC to book a document submission slot.

Updated: Notarial Act British High Commission KL
The British High Commission in Malaysia has announced it cannot offer notarial services to British nationals. Due to limitations under the Commissioners for Oaths Act 1889, consular officers in Commonwealth countries, including Malaysia, lack the authority to perform notarial acts such as issuing Certificates of No Impediment, certifying documents, administering oaths, or taking affidavits. British nationals requiring these services are advised to seek a registered Notary Public or Commissioner for Oaths locally. The High Commission expressed regret for the inconvenience.
