And the hydrangeas whose flowers become gifts for guests all spring.

I'm from Polish Happy Birthday and freckles,

From Gene and Bonnie,

From the jars of seasonal m&m’s and the pumpkin bread on the counter.

I'm from fresh pizzelles on Christmas Eve.

I'm from “Don't touch that!”, “Sit still!”,

And “Stai zitto!”

I'm from sledding at Choate,

From Cheshire and Poland,

From pierogies and kielbasa

And the 2004 Forester on Saturday mornings

Headed to breakfast at McDonalds.

I'm from small family gatherings

And the posed family pictures lining the stairs
