I am from the smell of burnt rubber and fresh gasoline.

I am from the countless hours of repair to fix broken items,

As those problems felt like they affected me internally.

I’m from going fast and taking chances,

From Cody and Chris,

From the thunder of exhaust and many oil changes,

From the meatball sandwiches from Deli 66

And from Dunkin Donuts in the morning.

I’m from measuring twice and cutting once,

And the Fast and Furious movies.

I’m from family Sunday dinners at Grandma’s,

From Hartford Hospital and 40 rolls on the Berlin Turnpike.

I’m from turkey dinner and family conversations,

From working hard and playing harder,

From working smarter instead of harder.
