Where I'm From

Where I’m From Poem Voice Memo

I am from the garage door opener which lets me enter my home

From the LEGO Death Star and flat-screen TV that stick out like sore thumbs.

I am from the Viking Appliances kitchen oven,

Where the savory aromas from my mother’s delicious food fill the whole downstairs.

I am from the vibrant blue and purple hydrangeas that add a nice touch

and the bright orange daylilies that match my car.

I’m from massive Italian family reunions and weird looking big toes,

From Samantha Balzano Dinn and Michael Joseph Dinn, III.

I’m from never changing the trash bag,

And from arguing about who is going to take it out.

I’m from the annual Gala Day parade where I watch the floats pass,

And from duking it out with my cousins in the swimming races.

From the classic hit “American Pie” by Don McLean,

And from the other oldies I listen to with my Dad.

I’m from my lovely hometown of Bourne, Massachusetts,

Where the gateway to Cape Cod lays.

From roots running deep from Ireland and Italy,

where we eat the freshest pasta sauce and the most delectable Italian wedding soup.

I am from the amazing quality time spent with my family.

I am from the Dinns.
