Halston
I am from that house on top of the hill
From sunsets on 'Prospect' to late-night views of the city skyline
I am from the shingle-style architecture
And the sea serpent grey paint that coats the rest.
I am from the two apple trees
Spying on the world
The edged line of grass
that creates a border from the desolate Slough.
I am from old fashioned Christmas parties and Super Bowl Sunday scaries,
From late nights that keep your body sleepless.
I am from long road trips and ocean sunset rides
And from the fulfillment of adventures that never seem to die.
I am from the "No’s" and the "Please’s"
And the "Youngbloods that always call my name".
I am from opposite sides of the world,
From Havard to Mexico to countries unknown.
I am from tamales and conchas,
From ping pong affairs too hot to handle,
And trips around the world,
Exploring all to be explored.
To early morning rises
That wake my sleepless body
I am woke for all to hear.
