Educators engage in self-reflection at the start of each annual professional growth cycle as part of the Portrait of an Educator (POE) model. This reflection occurs prior to goal setting and serves as the foundation for identifying areas of strength and opportunities for growth in relation to the district’s professional competencies and learning targets.
Educators also revisit and reflect on their progress later in the cycle during the presentation of evidence and feedback process, ensuring that reflection remains a continuous and integral part of professional learning and development.
The POE model emphasizes the importance of educator self-reflection to assist the educator with helping to select, monitor, and learn from their understanding of proficiency, and desire to grow professionally.
