As an active presence in the Lugoff-Elgin community, LEHS JROTC participates in a number of local events.
Veteran's Day (November 11) will be honored on Monday (November 11th) with an assembly for the Veterans in the community. All Veterans who have served or are currently serving are welcomed as Honored Guests. The Ceremony will begin at 8:30 am for you military types!!
Currently, we are annual participants in three parades: The Catfish Stomp of Elgin, the Lights of Lugoff, and the Veteran's Day Parade of Columbia.
Every semester Lugoff-Elgin’s JROTC hosts a blood drive for those in need. Must be 16 or older to donate and if you are 16 you need parental consent. Each school year, JROTC sponsors a Blood Drive each semester in October and March.
Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization that places wreaths upon the headstones at our nation's national cemeteries in remembrance of US veterans. LEHS JROTC is proud to say that we annually support this great cause by bringing volunteer cadets to Kershaw County's Quaker Cemetery to assist in placing wreaths upon the graves in this solemn event. This year over 800 wreaths were laid to honor veterans at our site.
Our cadets help our community in many ways. One of the most important parts of any cadet's JROTC experience at LEHS is Service Learning. Service Learning is specialized community service geared towards building character and responsibility in students to further our program mission.
The JROTC programs of each high school in the Kershaw County School District annually hold a joint Military Ball in the early Spring. This formal occasion is designed to unite all JROTC programs in Kershaw County for the purpose of allowing cadets to experience a formal evening ball filled with dining, dancing, and respect towards both JROTC and the United States Military.
