All uniform information comes from CCR 145-2
CLASS A:
Class A uniforms consist of a black coat, referred to as a "blouse". It comes with the grey-blue shirt, white undershirt, blue pants, a black tie or a neck-tab, a belt, black socks, and the blouse. Class A uniforms are worn in the winter, and for formal events.
Class A uniforms require the wear of the "torch" insignia pieces, as well as a tie for males and a neck-tab for females.
Both Class A and Class B uniforms require black dress shoes and black socks.
CLASS B:
Class B uniforms consist of a grey-blue shirt, white undershirt, blue pants, a belt, and black socks. Class B uniforms are worn during the summer, when the weather is warmer.
Class B uniforms do not require the wear of torch insignia.
Both Class A and Class B uniforms require black dress shoes and black socks.
OCPs (BDUs or ACUs):
OCPs (Operation Camouflage Patterns) are a camouflage uniform. It consists of a patrol cap, tan boots, pants, an olive green undershirt, an olive belt, and a jacket. The jacket, like the Class A coat, is referred to as a "blouse".
OCPs utilize the Patrol Cap (PC) to display rank and name-tape, as well as velcro on the blouse to display rank and other insignia.
Rank is displayed using subdued colors (black plastic).
Insignia is worn with JROTC on the left and school on the right. Leadership patches are worn above JROTC patch. OCP tabs are worn above the school patch.
INSIGNIA:
On a Class A uniform, there are several pieces of insignia that cadets will wear. There are name tags, the unit crest, ribbons, torches, and your current rank.
Torches only appear on Class A uniforms.
Cadets are required to wear every piece of insignia awarded to them.
(Ex. A cadet cannot chose to not wear the H.U.D. gold star.)
Rank is displayed using gold insignia on Class A uniforms, subdued & patch insignia on OCPs, and shoulder board insignia on Class B uniforms.
COVERS:
Some uniforms have accessories that you wear on your head, like the patrol cap for the OCPs or the beret for Class As and Bs. Covers must be worn if a cadet is outside, given that the cadet has a cover.
Berets are given exclusively for events in which cadets must dress in their Class A or Class B uniform. The only exception is members of the Drill Team, who keep berets.
Patrol Caps (PCs) are given exclusively to cadets who wear OCPs. They display a cadet's rank in subdued color, and name-tape on the back.
CORDS:
Cadets have opportunities to receive a cord, which represents the team or position they are currently in.
Cords are worn on the left shoulder, and their colors represent their position.
A cadet may wear up to two cords, one on each shoulder. The cord worn on the right shoulder can represent an achievement or a secondary team's involvement.
(Ex. Staff cord, Color Guard cord, Saber cord, Academic cord.)
