Service Learning
One of the most important parts of any cadet's JROTC experience at LEHS is Service Learning. Service Learning is specialized community service geared towards building character and responsibility in students to further our program mission.
On September 11, 2023 3 of our Cadets (Matthew Temple, Anthony Kelly, and Aidan Taylor) as well as our JROTC Instructor Sgt Allan Simmons participated in the Stover Middle School Round Robin Event in honor of the 9/11 tragedy. There they taught the young students about JROTC in cooperation in the local first responders and Fort Jackson Army soldiers.
On September 8, 2023 some of our first block cadets went to Stover Middle School to teach the new JROTC Club at the middle school more about the program. Our Cadets will continue to go every other Friday when the middle school has their club classes. They will learn how to fold flags, how to read maps, and more. This is to help train our cadets for future leadership oppurtunities and to teach the middle schoolers about the program and why they should join.
On August 19, 2023 cadets volunteered to help the American Legion Post 195 with the 3rd Annual Wateree Trash Pickup.
Cadets that attended:
first row: James Parnell, Sarah Oldham, Jhoni Santiago, Trenten Cardoza, Jaecob Harvey, Paige Herchik, Christopher Krause
second row: Gordon Waits, Delaney Scott, Aimee Nelson, Keonn Roan, Xavier Miller, Sgt Allan Simmons
On August 17, 2023 four of our cadets went to Blaney Elementary School in order to teach young students about and how to fold our National Flag and State Flag.
Cadets that attended: Paige Herchik, Otis Lee, James Parnell, and Shana Turner
