2024-2025 Domain 5 Overview
Domain 5 will constitute 20% of a teacher’s overall evaluation according to state law (MCL 380.1249) and be composed of multiple measures over multiple years. In Kalamazoo Public Schools, the measures are defined in the chart below.
All students should be included whenever possible if scores are available and the student tested with the current teacher. Partial year growth data can be used when applicable. Teachers should include all students for which he/she is the teacher of record for the subject area assessed. Students shall not be excluded from Domain 5 data except under extremely rare circumstances to be approved by the evaluating administrator. Elementary specials teachers should use data for all students in pre-determined classes or sections as approved by the evaluating administrator.
K-8 Teachers using NWEA MAP or Fastbridge Assessments:
5% Building Growth Goals (based on building MAP and FB data from prior year)
5% MAP/Fastbridge Instructional Metrics (individual class data from current year)
5% District Approved Classroom Assessments (see list)
5% Prior Year Individual KPS Domain 5 Score (if available)
High School Teachers:
5% Building Growth Goals (includes building grad rates, on track metrics, and Horizon assessments)
10% District Approved Classroom Assessments (individual class data from current year PLUS Tri 3 data from prior year)
5% Prior Year Individual KPS Domain 5 Score (if available)
All Others (Including District Coaches, non-teaching KEA staff, AT teachers, virtual teachers, and Elementary or Middle School teachers who do not teach Math, ELA, or Science):
5% Building or District Growth Goals
10% District Approved Classroom Assessments or other measure as approved for non-teaching staff
5% Prior Year Individual KPS Domain 5 Score (if available)
