Chair reports will be uploaded onto the website no later than Thursday October 29th.
What is the dresscode for the virtual conference?
The dresscode for this conference will be the same as normal IASAS MUN conferences (i.e. a suit/blazer and tie, dress pants, dress shirt, skirt, dress, cardigan, etc.).
Should we take the COVID-19 pandemic into consideration when debating?
Yes, we will debate in the present day. Currently, COVID-19 is still a prominent issue for many member states; for other member states it is not. This may effect the resolutions you write for some topics as you may need to provide additional humanitarian aid, for example. It is important to take into context the global repercussions that COVID-19 has had on the international community. This will definitely be a challenge, but we believe you all have the skills you need to confront the issues at hand.
What are opening statements?
Opening statements are one minute speeches where delegates address their respective committees and introduce their stance on each topic. Delegates should focus mainly on one topic and briefly mention the other topics so that members of the committee know which resolution that delegate has decided to focus on and may want to collaborate on during unmoderated caucus. For more information please contact your Chairs.
Should I write a resolution on every topic?
No, because that would be unrealistic. While it is important to come prepared it is unnecessary to write a resolution on each and every topic in your committees. Delegates should come with a resolution that they have written on one of their committee's topics that they will combine with other delegates' resolutions during unmoderated caucus. Delegates may choose to prepare clauses for other topics to submit as amendments or add to other resolutions during unmoderated caucus.
