The question of constitutionalizing the Common Foreign and Security Policy in EU Countries
Hi, everyone! My name is Suhana Khiani, and I am currently a senior at the Singapore American School. I was born and raised in Jakarta and still travel back home multiple times a year. I’ve been an active participant of MUN for 5 years now and I’m an avid debater as well. As someone who is talkative and curious about geopolitics, I was naturally inclined towards joining MUN as a middle schooler. My MUN journey began in 8th grade when I had no idea what a resolution or an opening speech was. Over the past 5 years, MUN has become the heart of my extracurricular activities and has shaped the extroverted and informed person I am today. As Covid-19 continues to sweep across virtually every country, it becomes more integral than ever to remain hopeful and united amidst the pandemic. As head chair of the European Union, I will strive to cultivate nurturing relationships, foster intellectual curiosity, encourage collaboration, and emphasize the importance of embracing diversity in the ever changing world we live in. I’m looking forward to “seeing” everyone and instigating change in the communities we live in!
Hello, delegates! My name is Ranina Simon, and I’m a junior from Jakarta Intercultural School. Model United Nations first caught my eye in freshman year — I joined with the intent to bolster my public speaking skills. However, I found myself drawn in by the amount of passion that was incorporated into the diplomacy; by the extent of delegates’ comprehension of the current political climate and intricate state relations. A ‘model’ of the United Nations it may be, MUN cultivates evaluative thinking, level headedness under pressure, and one’s investment in the international disputes that plague our world today — disputes our generation may very well be faced with the responsibility to resolve. As deputy chair of the European Union, I aim to foster these attributes and ignite in-depth, thought-provoking debate that integrates the stances and principles of all delegates in the discussion. Even in regards to our new online conditions, I’m looking forward to meeting students from across Asia and making this conference the most noteworthy one yet!
