What is therapy?
Therapy is a space where you work collaboratively with a trained professional to alleviate distress as well as build a more fulfulling life. Therapy can provide guidance and feedback but generally does not provide direct advice. It is a process of help guide and support you in identifying solutions to your problems. We will work on developing goals that make sense for you given where you are at right now.
How do I know if I need therapy?
Chances are if you are on this site you are experiencing some kind of pain and have already tried something to alleviate it that hasn't worked or hasn't worked as well as you would like. If you are experiencing issues that you have tried to manage on your own and have been unable to it may be beneficial to engage in therapy at this time. Therapy can also be beneficial if you are doing well but see room for greater growth in your life.
How often should I come to therapy?
Some of this depends on your specific issues and needs. The general recommendation is to start off with weekly therapy to develop rapport and alliance and to be able to begin to best address the issues that you brought you into therapy. If things improve then you can gradually reduce frequency of sessions and ultimately move toward successful termination of therapy
Are you the right fit to address the specific problems I'm dealing with?
I try to make this site thorough so that you can have a sense of the answer to this. I will say that I generally find that fit is determined both by the connection between two people as well as someone's knowledge of addressing the issues you bring. I hope after viewing this site you will have a sense of whether I can help but it may take an in person session and possibly multiple sessions to determine fit.
