Bible: In the upcoming week students will begin their next unit on Spiritual Disciplines. We will read testimonies of believers who have used spiritual discplines to strengthen their own faith and the faith of others.

Math

Targets:

This week in math we will wrap up Chapter 4: Graphing Linear Equations. We will review the second half, graphing standard form and point-slope form of equations, as well as writing equations for a given graph. Students should recall how to find x and y intercepts and use this to aide them when graphing standard form. After our assessment, we will begin Chapter 5, Systems of Equations.

Algebra

Targets: 

This week we will test on the first half of Chapter 4, Linear equations. Students should recall how to graph equations in slope-intercept form, point-slope form, and standard form. Students should be familiar with a-intercepts and y-intercepts, as well as slope and coordinate pairs. Students should know how to find slopes of parallel lines and perpendicular lines, appplying this knowlegde to writing equations and graphing. We will assess mid-week and continue on to the second half of Chapter 4.

Language Arts 

Targets: 

This week we will finish up with the reading of The Giver by Lowry. We will analyze the utopian and dystopian elements of the community in the book, and we will also be writing paragraphs on Lois Lowry's world building in the novel. At the end of the week, students will take the final test on The Giver,  which will consist of multiple choice, passage analysis, and written response questions.

Science: In the upcoming week students will finish their learning on classes of matter. We will discover how matter is organized by mixtures, solutions, elements, and compounds.

Social Studies: We will finish our lesson on the end of the Revolutionary War.  We will focus on the diary entries of two German soldiers who fought on opposite sides of the war, and how their personal experiences were different from each other.  The Revolutionary War test will be on Friday.

Assignments: Articles of Confederation assignment due on Tuesday, 11/4/25.
