Learning Targets: This week we will discuss slavery in the Americas. Why did it start? what was life like for an enslaved African?

Reading/Writing: This week we will continue our informational writing unit. Students will begin drafting their own informational writings and applying the conventions of informational writing (topic sentences, supporting details, etc.). Students will be typing up a final draft of their informative pieces on Matthew Henson and turning them in for a grade. Then, we will begin our unit on informational reading, in which we will read an informational text about animal cells.

Band: Last week, we got more practice on the note A (B for Trumpets/Clarinets and F# for Saxophones). Additionally, we started to look at p. 14 in our TOE books to play eighth notes! I have finalized exactly what we are playing at our concert, and we are going to keep refining those materials this week! Please be on top of your child to practice their instrument at home! What they should be practicing is written directly on their practice record.
