What is a Mentorship?

Mentoring is a form of work-based learning that involves business and community volunteers developing one-to-one relationships with students to build an understanding of careers and work ethics.

Mentorship Requirements Overview

To participate in a Mentorship, a student shall:

Have adequate time to spend with the mentor.
Have transportation to/from the placement (if applicable).
Track mentorship experience(s):
- - Mentor Name
  - Mentor Job Title
  - Mentor Organization
  - Date(s) & Time(s)

To participate in a Mentorship, a mentor shall:

Have a flexible schedule to support participation.
Model a successful work life.
Have a positive outlook on life.
Work well with others.
Be responsible and trustworthy.
Use patience.
Enjoy teaching others how to succeed.
Lack a criminal record.
Mentors should complete a Kentucky Criminal Background Check via the JCPS Volunteer Site.
