An Internship is a type of work-based learning that provides work experience in a particular occupation and leads to course credit and compensation.
JCPS has two (2) types of Internships:
Career & Technical Education (CTE)
Arts (Music, Theatre, Dance, Visual Arts)

Career & Technical Education (CTE) Internships are paid or unpaid work experiences consisting of in-school Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program instruction combined with related on-the-job work experience in a connected business or industrial establishment.
*All CTE Internship should be coded accordingly in Infinite Campus and aligned to the student's TEDS-identified career program area (CTE pathway).Arts Internships are paid or unpaid work experiences consisting of on-the-job work experience during the school day that is aligned to an area in the Arts (Music, Theatre, Dance, or Visual Arts) and should align to a student's career goals in their Individualized Learning Plan (ILP).
*All Arts Internships should be coded accordingly in Infinite Campus.To participate in a CTE Internship, a student shall:
Have at least two (2) pathway credits on transcript from their TEDS-identified CTE pathway.
Have gained sufficient knowledge and skills for success.
Have completed the basic career and technical skill prerequisites required by the CTE program area.
To participate in an Arts Internship, a student shall:
Have gained sufficient knowledge and skills for success.
Have completed the basic career and technical skill prerequisites required by the type of Internship.
WBL Employers shall:
Complete Employer Registration and all required electronic forms.
Abide by all state and federal labor laws.
Maintain communication with JCPS staff.
Abide by all JCPS District policies and procedures for Work-Based Learning.
