Araya Lucero
Hey what's up guys! my names Araya, But, I go by Raya. I'm a staff writer for Pomona Perspective. I'm a senior and this is actually my first and last year here at Pomona High School, and my first year in journalism. I'm excited to see what this year has in store for me, and looking forward to introducing myself to new people while creating stories to write. I've always had a thing for writing since I was younger and so I'm excited to see what I create. Enjoy!
Since I was a freshman I always knew I wanted to be a photographer. I took a technology class when I went to Skyview and did a photography unit and I just fell in love with it.
Music to me is like an escape from anxiety and not only that but , when I need to drown out the world for a little I even love to just sit down and put on good playlist and find a good book to read. I'm honestly into many different genres of music and I'm always open to being introduced to new music!
I've always been into all things art since I was little. I dabble in a little bit of everything from drawing, painting etc etc. I guess you could say I have a artistic hand, whether I'm good or not I love art no matter what
This year has been super hectic for me and my family. Ever since my dad proposed to my step mom back in May, we've been starting to plan things like crazy. Granted it's not till October 2022, but my parents are tryna stay ahead of the game I guess. They've done already asked their groomsmen and bridesmaids to be in the wedding the weekend of our Hoco dance. But honestly, I'm super excited to be in a wedding especially my dad's. He deserves to be happy and that's all I've wanted for him. My family and I have been through a lot so this is a huge moment of growth for all of us and super excited! I'm ready to see what the future has in store for us all.
What it's Like working at King Soopers for Me
So, After I quit Noodles and Co. back in october towards to ending, I had applied for King Soopers and they hired me pretty fast because well they've been so short staffed. Well, I've been with King soopers for about a month now and let me tell you it's been rough. I'm still getting used to it and learning where everything is. The only thing I don't like is the fact they're has been things said about me that not true but hey there's going to always be haters and someone praying on my downfall.
Finals Week
As we all know the weeks before Christmas break is the most stressful especially for many of our panthers who have been struggling. But, know you're not alone, cause Let me tell you, I have been the most stressed I have ever been. The one final that has been having me stressin the most is Econ because we're watching a movie and filling out the information and answering questions based off the movie which I personally hate doing because I forget that it's for school and we aint watching just to watch so then I always miss a bunch of information. But, hey I made this far in the week just gotta continue to have faith in myself and manifest passing these finals. Other than that I can't wait to be done with finals and get a break to refresh my brain and come back next semester ready and refreshed.
4 Months till Graduation
Gee, 4 months already till I graduate. This school year really flew by so fast it's crazy. It's already January and we graduate in May. Honestly I'm a little nervous just because I'm prepared but I'm not. It's been an odd year for me. I lost my motivation, I lost myself for a while, but I'm slowing trying to find myself back and get on track and stay on track so I can graduate. Being a senior and transfering from the only school you've went to, to a whole new district/school was kind of rough for me not going to lie. It's hard not knowing anyone and being a new kid. For a while I felt like I don't belong here. But, honestly I learned that I rather be an outcast than fit in. It's my last year in a high school and I'm focused on my grind watching as I get closer and closer to the finish line. On the bright side of things, after I graduate I plan to continue on and purse photography as a career.
Acceptance to Adams State University
I have been recently accepted to attend Adams State University in Alamosa, Co for photography. I'm nervous but very excited at the same. I've been in Colorado pretty much my whole life, but honestly I think it would be a good change of scenery and be good to get out of Denver for a while. I need a break from the city in all honesty. But, I won't be going alone. My best friend since the end of Sophomore year are going together and attending the same school. She's currently going on a basketball scholarship, which I'm so proud of her. But, I'm glad I'm not going a lone and I'm going with someone I know will push me and and she knows I'll push her. We support each other through anything and I think it'll be good for us both. I'm so excited because I've Always wanted to be a photographer since I was a freshman. So this will good for and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for me.
