Call for Volunteers: Baccalaureate Planning Committee
We need volunteers interested in planning this ceremony.
Baccalaureate refers to a non-denominational ceremony held a few days before graduation. Unlike the massive commencement exercise held in an arena, baccalaureate ceremonies offer a quieter, more intimate opportunity to pause and reflect on this rite of passage, hear a keynote speaker, and appreciate other student talents. A faculty member and student speakers offer advice to the graduating class. This event is not sponsored by the school and is parent-volunteer based only.
Please complete and submit this form as soon as possible to volunteer in support of a Baccalaureate ceremony for the Class of 2026.

It is a great time to remind everyone to be thoughtful of our neighbors and student body during drop off and pick up. We must keep the right of way clear for emergency vehicles and through traffic. With only one road to enter and exit a building this size, with this many people, the roads at the school will always be congested. There are a few things we can do as a Ralston Valley community to help make these busy times of day run as smoothly as possible.
Main Entrance - Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. and we ask that you do not arrive to pick up your student and park in the loop before 3:00 p.m. Please be sure to pull as far forward as you can in the loop at the front of the school when dropping off or picking up your student. This helps to alleviate backups in the roundabout and get as many cars off of 80th Ave. as quickly as possible. Also, please pick up your student on the outside of the loop (closest the the sidewalk), not the inside. We do not want students passing in between cars as this is not safe.
Student Parking Lot - To keep our students safe, please do not park in our student parking lot while you wait to pick up your student(s) after school.
Roundabout on 80th- The roundabout is part of the road. Please do not park in the roundabout while waiting for dismissal time. This blocks the flow of eastbound traffic and prevents traffic exiting to the east from leaving campus as well. Please do not stop and pick up your student in the roundabout or on 80th Ave.
Fire Station - As traffic backs up on southbound Alkire, please be sure to leave room for our first responders to exit the firehouse safely and without obstruction. Do not block the exit of their garage.
82nd Ave. - Please pay attention to posted road signs along 82nd Ave. There are multiple speedbumps on 82nd Ave., making it necessary to go the speed limit or slower to ensure safe driving and prevent damage to your vehicle. There are also multiple No Parking signs along 82nd Ave. next to the school's property. Please do not park there to pick up your student.
Finally, and most importantly, please do not park across the street and ask for your student to run across 80th Ave. to be picked up. This is highly dangerous and we have shared with students that this is not permitted!
Thank you for your continued diligence when driving in and around Ralston Valley.
Traffic Reminders from Arvada Police Department
Please do NOT stop or park in the roundabout on W 80th Ave. until the car line begins to move/flow. Those waiting on the south side of W 80th Ave. just west of the roundabout need to wait there until they see the line begin to move. This usually takes a few minutes after the bell rings so please be patient. Those who attempt to stop or park in the roundabout before the line begins to move will not be allowed to stay there and will be directed to move (by continuing east) or will be ticketed by Arvada PD. This is essential for efficient traffic flow and will help the pick-up process run smoothly. It also helps to keep that area clear for emergency vehicles.

Girls Basketball - The Lady Mustangs pushed themselves to the brink of the Sweet 16 in the CHSAA 6A Girls Basketball State Tournament, but their season came to a heartbreaking end in a dramatic battle against Eaglecrest High School last Saturday at the Mustang Range.
In front of an energized home crowd, the two teams traded momentum throughout the first half. Both squads battled defensively and answered each other’s runs, keeping the game tight heading into the break.
The turning point came in the third quarter when Eaglecrest found a rhythm offensively and built a 13-point lead, putting the Mustangs in a difficult position. But true to the identity they’ve shown all season, the Mustangs refused to fold.
With their season hanging in the balance, they mounted an incredible fourth-quarter comeback. Possession by possession, they chipped away at the deficit with relentless defense, timely baskets, and sheer determination. Their effort paid off when the Mustangs clawed their way back to take the lead with just 15 seconds remaining, setting up what seemed to be a storybook finish.
After a strong defensive stand on the final possession, the Raptors launched one last shot as time expired. The ball bounced around the rim twice before finally falling through, giving Eaglecrest a narrow 54–53 victory in one of the most dramatic finishes of the tournament.
Though the result was heartbreaking, the Lady Mustangs showed tremendous heart, resilience, and competitive spirit. Their fight until the final buzzer reflected the character of the program and capped off a season full of growth, toughness, and pride.
Congratulations on a great season, Lady Mustangs.
Boys Basketball - The Mustangs boys basketball team is headed back to the Elite Eight for the second year in a row, continuing an impressive postseason run in the CHSAA 6A Boys Basketball State Tournament.
The Mustangs opened the playoffs with a dominant performance against Heritage High School, rolling to an 83–48 victory in front of a great home crowd at the Mustang Range last Friday night. With balanced scoring, strong defensive pressure, and outstanding ball movement, the team set the tone early and never looked back.
They carried that momentum into Tuesday night’s Sweet 16 match-up against Regis Jesuit High School, earning a convincing 60–43 win to punch their ticket to the quarterfinals. The Mustangs controlled the game with disciplined defense and efficient offense, continuing the level of play that has defined their season.
Now the stage shifts to the Denver Coliseum, where the Mustangs will face George Washington High School tonight at 8:30 p.m. in the state quarterfinals.
If you’re planning to attend and support the Mustangs as they continue their playoff run, tickets can be purchased here:

Let’s pack the Coliseum and cheer on the Mustangs!
Track & Field - The Mustang track and field team kicked off its season yesterday by hosting the annual Mustang Invite at Jeffco Stadium, and it was a tremendous start to the spring season. Competing across the full slate of running, jumping, and throwing events, Mustang athletes delivered strong performances throughout the meet.
By the end of the day, the team’s depth and effort paid off in a big way — both the boys and girls teams captured the overall team championships, an impressive way to open the season on their home track.
Several Mustangs also claimed individual and relay event victories.
Event winners included:
Girls 800 Sprint Medley Relay: Bailee Cummin, Stella Yannett, Teagan Strain, and Brynna Hettick
Boys 800 Sprint Medley Relay: Tyler Rundus, Mason Lang, Gavin King, and Alex Steven
Jessica Cannizarro: Both the Girls 100M Hurdles and 300M Hurdles
Boys 4x100M Relay: Gabriel Carney, Clark Osborn, Lance Reinhardt, and Luis Madera
Owen Grimes: Boys 3200M Run
Boys 4x400M Relay: Matteo Quinto, Harry Kelloff, Eduardo de Cesare, and Cole Jacobsen
Karsyn Kline: Both the Girls Shot Put and Discus
Josh Stencel: Boys Shot Put
Ethan Shirazi: Boys Long Jump
Mason Lang: Boys Triple Jump
With strong early-season performances across the board, the Mustangs set a great tone for the spring and demonstrated the depth and competitiveness of the program.
The Columbine Invite scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed! Stay tuned for a make-up date!
Boy's Swim & Dive - The Mustang swim & dive team opened its season in impressive fashion last Saturday with a 230–109 victory over Valor Christian High School. From the first event through the final relay, the Mustangs showed strong depth and early-season form, setting the tone for what looks to be a promising year in the pool.
One of the most encouraging signs of the meet was the number of athletes already reaching state qualifying standards — an impressive accomplishment this early in the season when many swimmers are still building toward peak form.
Congratulations to the following Mustangs who punched their ticket to state:
Logan Gamsen — 100 Freestyle
Kaiden Riviera — 100 Breaststroke
Sean Tracy — 500 Freestyle
In addition to those qualifying performances, several other Mustang swimmers posted times just shy of the state standard, signaling the team’s depth and potential as the season progresses.
It was an outstanding start for the program and a great early indicator of the work the athletes and coaches have put in during the offseason. The Mustangs look forward to building on this momentum as the season continues.

Students Study Climate Change in Earth Science
Ms. Geinitz's Earth Science students are diving into the science behind climate change by investigating the phenomenon of Arctic "zombie fires", which are wildfires that smolder underground through the winter and reignite in the spring. To understand the larger climate connections, students conducted hands-on labs exploring how the angle of the sun's rays affects the amount of energy reaching the earth's surface.
Geometry Students at Work
In Mrs. Braketa’s Geometry class, students brought mathematics to life by designing original 'creatures' using a combination of prisms, cones, cylinders, and pyramids. This project highlights how geometry is integral to the design process, challenging students to apply their knowledge by calculating the total volume of their unique creations.
National Merit Scholarship Recognition
We are proud to recognize National Merit Scholarship Finalist, Pragna Yalavarthy, and National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist, Marley Griffin, through the highly competitive National Merit Scholarship Program.
Students enter the program by earning exceptional scores on the junior-year PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). Semifinalists represent less than 1% of high school seniors nationwide and are the highest scorers in each state.
Finalists advance after meeting additional rigorous requirements, including maintaining an outstanding academic record, submitting a detailed scholarship application, earning a school endorsement, and confirming qualifying SAT or ACT scores. From this group, National Merit Scholars are ultimately selected to receive scholarship awards.
This achievement reflects extraordinary academic performance, dedication, and sustained excellence. We are incredibly proud of both students for representing our school at the highest academic level.
Therapy Dogs Visit Ralston Valley

Drew Rehme has been selected by the AATG to advance to the National Selection Round for the German Exam Scholarship, culminating in a three week trip to Germany. Over the next few weeks, he will be tested on his mastery of listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
In Germany, they don’t cross their fingers for luck—they press their thumbs! Join us in "pressing our thumbs" (Daumen drücken) for both Kyle and Drew as they represent Ralston Valley High School on the national stage. Viel Glück!
