Kenya Franklin

My name is Kenya Franklin. I am a mother of three. I have lived in the City of Chicago's 3rd Police District my entire life. As a result, I have experienced what poor policing does to a community. As the mother of a young adult son, we must get this right regarding public safety. I do not want to fear for my children nor sympathize with another childless mother. However, the third district is my home, and I am running to make it safer for everyone. I want to create transparency between law enforcement and the citizens of Chicago. I would like for witnesses that have the courage to come forward to be protected. More police are not the answer. More training is not the answer. Better policing is the answer, and a two-strike rule for racial and violent complaints from residents is the answer. We need a say in police misconduct and how complaints are handled. I would like to see an end to qualified immunity. Public safety is paramount to the overall safety of a community. I want to be that voice for my district and my city. I love Chicago.
