10th District

Elianne Bahena

I am Elianne “Ely” Bahena, a proud daughter of immigrant parents from Guerrero, Mexico, a first-generation college graduate, and a passionate Latina leader from La Villita, who strives to empower and bring justice to my community. I have worked in the nonprofit sector for more than seven years, advocating for the protection of domestic violence survivors and for the rights of immigrant communities across Illinois. This year, I began a new position at the 22nd Ward Public Service Office, where I serve as the Director of Policy and Community Outreach.

I am on the Board of Directors of Mujeres Latinas en Accion. I am the Chairwoman of Enlace Chicago’s Associate Board (ECAB), an Executive Board member in the HACE Chicago Auxiliary Board, and the Co-Chair of the Young Women’s Giving Council at the Chicago Foundation for Women.

I am a Trabajadoras Fellow with the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) and a member of the inaugural class for Community Leadership Fellows.

I am running for the 10th District Council to address the everyday challenges our communities face when it comes to policing in our neighborhoods. I will work with our community members to reimagine what public safety looks like in our city. I believe that working with organizations that focus on prevention, intervention, and programming are essential to the success of this council.

As an experienced justice-driven leader, who works to build stronger communities, I look forward to representing and empowering my neighbors in the 10th District through this new position.

Rosemarie Dominguez

Rosemarie Dominguez comes from a legacy of activism from her family, which began through the Pilsen Parishes. Born and raised in Little Village, Rosemarie remains an advocate for the people. Overtime her advocacy stemmed into North/ South Lawndale and Back of the Yards. She is a proud graduate of the Multicultural Arts High School (LVLHS) and shares family lineage with those who helped fight for the school.

Rosie completed a dual bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Applied Psychology, and Latin American and Latino Studies (LALS) in 2015, from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). In 2018, at UIC, she received her Master’s in LALS with an emphasis on housing, policy, anti-displacement, gentrification, and community access.

With 20 plus years of community engagement, Rosie’s parents have always instilled to stay grounded in her communities and rooted in the people. Today she fights for access, housing rights, and safety among other issues plaguing our communities.

Rosie seeks to work on unifying residents to come together for a communal process where CPD can be held accountable and individual concerns can be addressed and followed through. In addition, proceed to work on reimagining public safety through community partnerships, with residents and Chicago Law Enforcement.

Rosemarie is currently running for the district 10 Council Member; North/ South Lawndale & Pilsen. Through this position, Rosie wants to ensure the voices of the neighborhoods in the district are heard. Her extensive history of being on the ground and focusing on grassroots organizing will allow us to have that representative.

Kiisha Smith

Hi my name is Kiisha Smith, and I’m currently running to be a 10th Police District Council Member. I was born and primarily raised in the 10th District in the Lawndale community, where I currently reside and work as a Youth & Community Advocate! Because I’ve been on both sides of the spectrum, I know exactly what it’s like to be harassed by the police as well as to call on them and NOT receive the help, assistance or protection that I needed!

Our INNOCENCE has been ABUSED for far too long! It’s time to take our RAGE and turn it into change! So make sure you VOTE FOR ME on February 28, 2023 to ensure that you’re also a part of the solution!
