Principal's Message

WJES Families,

What a GREAT start to the 2022-2023 school year! We are so excited to reconnect with our Panther Community and meet with our new students and families. Our theme this year is #growingatWJES. We are growing with our community, growing in academics, growing in STEAM learning and growing in character. We kickstarted our year with a grade level pep rally focused on how to be a respectful, responsible and safe WJES panther. Our admin team and specials teachers performed skits and led cheers and songs to model expected behavior and to get students excited about the new school year!

We are so proud to be a state-certified STEAM school. Our students and staff achieved this tremendous feat by engaging in rigorous high level thinking and working hands-on to solve real-world problems to make our school and community better. Our students utilize our many outdoor environments and work with community partners and experts to show what they know using art and to educate others to solve real issues aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence. Our students are already engaged in thinking like a scientist and thinking like an artist to notice, wonder and solve real world problems around them. Check out our school website and facebook page to see students writing in their STEAM journals, collaborating with peers, and engaging in academic work aligned to their grade level standards.

Families we appreciate your support and flexibility as we work through new traffic patterns and routines. Please know that our top priority is always student safety, and we want every student to have an amazing experience at WJES! We are a community school, and we always welcome input from all of our stakeholders. If you would like to partner with us to support our students, to share in STEAM learning, or if you have any questions or input, please feel free to contact me by phone or email lking@jcss.us or (706)654-2044.

Sincerely,

Lori King

Principal

WJES Clubs

Clubs are a wonderful way for students to participate in activities outside of the regular school day that enrich their learning and development. WJES is excited to offer a variety of clubs for students at our school. Look for club information in your child's weekly folder later this month!

Infinite Campus Parent Portal

The Jackson County School System uses Infinite Campus as its student information management system. The best way for parents to be connected and receive information from the district and school is to create an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. Click on this link to access the Parent Resource Guide for Infinite Campus. If you have any issues creating or accessing your account, please contact our Media Specialist Aimee Vickers at avickers@jcss.us.

7 Mindsets

For the month of August we will be focusing on the 1st of the 7 Mindsets, Everything is Possible. Everything is Possible is the idea that we are all capable of living extraordinary lives by dreaming big, thinking positive, and embracing creativity. Students will engage with these ideas through morning lessons and various points of integration throughout the school day. Here is a link to the parent newsletter going more in depth into the Mindset, Everything is Possible.
