School News and Important Information
Attendance
Dear Parents, We want to celebrate that our school attendance data has already improved over last year! Thank you for helping us to achieve the goal of increasing student achievement by improving our attendance at school! When our students are in class every day at 7:40, our instruction time is maximized and our students thrive! Thank you so much for your partnership with attendance!
Classroom Deliveries
If your child forgets something at home or if you are brining a special treat for the class, please plan to drop items off at school prior to 10:30 a.m. This will help us to ensure we have time to deliver everything to classrooms. Thank you!
Transportation Update
Our bus routes have grown as our community has grown! In order to ensure the safe transport of every HES student, we are not able to accommodate additional students on bus routes that they don't normally ride. Thank you for understanding that we cannot accept notes for students to ride different bus routes home in the afternoons. Students may only ride the bus that serves their home address. Again, thank you for understanding. Your child's safety is our priority!
Heroes Salutes
At Heroes Elementary, we love celebrating the positive choices that make our school a safe, respectful, and responsible community!
We’re excited to share Student and Staff Salutes — special shout-outs for those who go above and beyond to live our school values every day.
Congrats to our November Heroes Salutes students and to our November teacher honoree, Ms. Stevens, for always having a Pawsitive Attitude about work. November's Student and Staff salute focus is work!
Registration for the 2026-27 Pre-Kindergarten Lottery is now OPEN! Families can visit www.jacksonschoolsga.org/prek to learn more about eligibility requirements. Pre-K programs are available at all seven JCSS elementary schools. The lottery drawing will take place in March, and families will be notified of their enrollment status.
Heroes Elementary is planning a Multicultural Night for March 19, 2026!
We would love for our families to be part of this special event. Please complete the form to let us know if your family would like to participate.
Some ways you can help include:
• Participating in a multicultural fashion show

• Bringing a traditional dish to share
We can’t wait to celebrate the rich diversity of our HES community!

Our school is a literacy rich environment, which means that we work on reading and writing in many different ways. One of these ways is our Spelling Bee in third, fourth and fifth grades. This week, our classroom winners competed in the school-wide Spelling Bee. We were so proud of them! It was great to have their family members come to support! Congratulations to Evander Ng, who is our school winner and will represent us at the District Spelling Bee!
Thank you to our Partners in Education!
