School News and Important Information
Attendance
Dear Parents, We want to celebrate that our school attendance data has already improved over last year! Thank you for helping us to achieve the goal of increasing student achievement by improving our attendance at school! When our students are in class every day at 7:40, our instruction time is maximized and our students thrive! Thank you so much for your partnership with attendance!
Transportation Update
Our bus routes have grown as our community has grown! In order to ensure the safe transport of every HES student, we are not able to accommodate additional students on bus routes that they don't normally ride. Thank you for understanding that we cannot accept notes for students to ride different bus routes home in the afternoons. Students may only ride the bus that serves their home address. Again, thank you for understanding. Your child's safety is our priority!
Help us stock our HES Clinic with much-needed supplies! Every donation helps keep our students healthy and ready to learn.

Shared Student Achivement
Our plan for shared student achievement at Heroes Elementary outlines how we will strengthen family engagement to support student learning. We value our parents and families as partners in improving achievement and encourage involvement in activities that promote learning at school and at home.
All students will bring home a Parent/Home Compact — an agreement between parents, students, and the school to work together for student success.
By signing and returning the compact, we all commit to helping every student reach their academic goals!
Heroes Elementary is proud to partner with our community! Check out our 2025–2026 Partners in Education packages and learn how your business can support our students while gaining great visibility.Â
Mark your calendars! The Athens Rock Lobsters are hosting four JCSS Foundation nights! A portion of every ticket sold will be donated back to the Foundation to support staff grants and student scholarships! Tickets are on sale now! Visit www.jcssfoundation.org/upcomingevents.Â
We are thrilled to announce all JCSS schools are adopting the Raptor Safe mobile application as part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety, while streamlining visitor management check-in at our schools. The Raptor Safe app builds upon existing visitor procedures, offering a more convenient and secure check-in process for visitors.Â
What is the Raptor Safe App?
The Raptor Safe app offers a convenient and secure way for visitors to manage and verify their identity before arriving at a school. With the Raptor Passport feature, visitors can pre-verify their identity, allowing for a seamless sign-in process when they arrive on campus.
How Does It Work?
When visiting a school, visitors can use their secure QR code generated by the app to expedite the check-in process. QR codes automatically regenerate every 5 minutes to ensure security and prevent misuse.Â
Getting Started
Red Ribbon Week sent positive vibes throughout HES! It is great when we come together as a community to create safe environments, celebrate the strengths of our students, and empower them to make healthy choices! Â
Thank you to our Partners in Education!
