1. Head Coaches/Advisors
A. Head Coaches/Advisors shall be responsible to the Activities Director for the total operation of their respective programs.
B. Head Coaches/Advisors shall act as official representatives of the school as they carry out their interscholastic program responsibilities.
C. Head Coaches/Advisors will be responsible for the normal duties required of interscholastic competition, those duties described in the advisor/coaches’ job description, and any other duties delegated by the Activities Director.
2. Activities Director
A. The Activities Director is responsible to the Principal & Superintendent.
B. The primary responsibility of the Activities Director is the administration and supervision of the interscholastic activity program in the Aitkin Schools.
C. He/She will provide the leadership necessary for the day-to-day operation of the activities department.
3. Principal/Superintendent of Schools
A. The Principal/Superintendent is responsible to administer the schools policies according to adopted policies of the Board of Education, rules and regulations of the State Department of Education, and in accordance with state school code.
B. It is his/her duty to establish a definite school activities policy and to have an understanding of that policy.
C. The Superintendent shall represent the school district as its chief executive officer and its foremost professional educator in its dealings with other school systems and businesses.
D. He/She delegates his/her power of administration of the interscholastic program to the Activities Director
4. Board of Education
A. The Board of Education is the ruling agency for the Aitkin School District.
B. It is responsible for interpreting the needs of the community and requirements to the professional organization.
C. Additional responsibilities include:
i. developing policies in accordance with State statutes and mandates in accordance with the educational needs and wishes of the people
ii. approving means by which professional staff may make these policies effective
iii. evaluating the interscholastic activities program in terms of its value to the community.
5. Coaches/Advisors are responsible for knowing the MSHSL policies. The full league policy book is on the league web site (www.mshsl.org/).
