A pilot action on observation of cetacean and endangered coastal habitats is underway in collaboration with BiGLe (Blue Geo Lighthouse), a “Blue Science” R&I SME headquartered on Madeira island.
Given that BiGLe main area of activity is on “Blue” science and technology research and innovation, promoting Portuguese and international development initiatives focused on the Oceans and the Coastal areas, the selected points of interest are on the sea, such as for cetacean observation and endangered coastal habitats (see figures, including a vessel from BiGLe, from where drones will be launched).
A pilot action in collaboration with BiGLe (Blue Geo Lighthouse) was started in early 2023. That pilot encompassed several activities such as:
Develop a joint work plan;
Develop guidelines for selecting an appropriate UAV (aka drone), with suitable autonomy, range, 5G video streaming quality, and manoeuvrability;
Conceive and productize a georeferenced virtual flying tour bus for online video streaming from UAV-based live flights around and above points of interest.
