Augmented, Virtual, and Mixed Reality (AR/VR/MR) tools have great potential to transform how people interact, allowing the building of innovative experiences for the visitation of tourism Points of Interest (POIs) and substitutes for FAM trips in a more cost-effective, timely and sustainable way. They can also be used for fostering direct sales as a more effective/convincing alternative than consulting a printed catalogue when deciding to buy a trip over the counter from an SME travel agency.
This toolkit aims at facilitating the conception of augmented, virtual, and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR) based tourism experiences by tourism small to medium enterprises (SMEs). It will include the supporting open-source code (to make available on an open-source repository, along with the description of the application programming interfaces (APIs) for integration of building information modelling (BIM) data, other 3D data sources and 360º imaging data, a data collection manual and, configuration and deployment instructions.
